Why work with us

Modern Approach & Sustainable Results

Temporary Accomodation

WCSSI offers secure, purpose-built crisis accommodation for women and their children escaping domestic and family violence. Each family is provided with a fully furnished, self-contained unit, ensuring privacy and safety without the need to share spaces with others.

Mobile Support Program

The Mobile Support Program extends WCSSI’s services beyond the shelter, providing community-based support to women and children who choose to remain in their homes. This program offers holistic case management, including safety planning, advocacy, and tenancy support, to help clients sustain their current housing and navigate the challenges associated with domestic violence.

24/7 Customer Support

WCSSI’s Case Managers deliver individualised support to clients, assisting them in various aspects of their journey towards safety and independence. Services include risk assessment, safety planning, assistance with legal matters such as Domestic Violence Orders, and support in accessing Centrelink, housing, schooling, and counseling services.

Innovative Technologies

Recognising the impact of domestic violence on children, WCSSI provides specialised support to address their emotional and developmental needs. One such initiative is the Music Therapy program, which offers children a safe and creative outlet to express their emotions and develop coping strategies.

The process

From First Contact to Freedom

Support is available every step of the way—whether you need immediate safety or long-term assistance, you don’t have to face this journey alone.

01

Deciding to Reach Out

The first step often begins with recognizing that something isn’t right—whether it’s physical, emotional, psychological, or all of these. The decision to seek help typically comes after a period of isolation, fear, or uncertainty. Many women feel trapped or even blame themselves, making it hard to take that first step.

02

Making the First Call

Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, but WCSSI is here to support you. We are trained to handle these sensitive situations with empathy and care.

The first contact with WCSSI could be through a phone call, text, or email. Once you’ve made that initial connection, a DFV case manager will work closely with you to assess your safety and immediate needs. This may include creating a personalized safety plan, which could involve identifying safe places to go if things escalate, determining what to take with you, and ensuring confidentiality when necessary.

Depending on your situation, we may direct you to a safe location, such as a shelter or temporary housing. You also have the option to request support in applying for a Protection Order.

03

Working Together

As we move forward, the focus shifts to rebuilding your independence. This may involve securing stable housing, seeking legal advice, accessing counselling, gaining skills through job training, pursuing educational opportunities, and reconnecting with family and friends. This kind of support allows you to feel more supported, heard, and in control, while giving you the tools and resources to rebuild your life with confidence and independence.

04

New Life and Setting Boundaries

Ultimately, the goal is to help you live a life free from the trauma of domestic violence. This involves setting new boundaries, rediscovering your identity, and gaining the empowerment to live life on your own terms.
